Are you a visionary or an Integrator?

When helping clients create the right structure for their organization we take a big step back to identify if the job roles are clearly defined and if they have the right people in those seats.  The Integrator and Visionary roles are an essential part of that organizational structure. It takes two types of leaders at the helm of an organization to grow and these roles are distinctly different.  Here’s a sample of what the Visionary and Integrator roles typically look like.

A Visionary many times is the founder. They often focus on the big picture, culture, and client relationships. A traditional Visionary tends to be a strong leader, have lots of ideas, is a relationship builder, and a great salesperson. On the other hand, due to their drive and passion they can many times have the foot on the gas pedal all the time and want to implement every idea immediately. Therefore, it is essential to recognize your strengths then build a team around you to support that.

An Integrator is someone detail-oriented who keeps the team harmonious and productive, and is skilled at resolving conflict. An Integrator is the person who thrives on creating order out of chaos. They are the person who is naturally suited for this role. Simply put, the integrator acts as the quarterback for the team.  Traditional Integrators tend to be great managers, are good at holding people accountable, and creating consistency. They unfortunately are tasked with having to say no alot and can typically be the bearer of bad news in an organization.

As a dynamic duo, the Visionary and the Integrator are the key ingredients an entrepreneurial company needs to get to the next level.

What are Core Values

Set of Eternal Guiding Principles

Core Values are the foot print from which a company’s culture is developed and when used correctly they will help you grow your business.  They are a set of timeless principles that are unique to your firm and will naturally attract the right people into your organization and repel the wrong ones.  This is important because if someone doesn’t care about what you value then they shouldn’t be a part of your team.  So to protect your culture you should hire, fire, review, reward and recognize employees based on Core Values.

How can Core Values help you grow?

Core Values tell customers what the company is about and clarifies your identity. They should act like a magnet to your ideal clients and improve retention since it helps them identify with your brand. Core Values can be linked to business operations keeping them strong throughout the organization.  There should be alignment within your firm in that words and actions correlate with what you deliver.

Core Values As A Competitive Advantage

These values can also support recruiting efforts and acquisition success by providing a value driven purpose and alignment to the deal.  Top quality advisers seek out companies with values that match their own which can improve the overall success of the endeavor.

 HOW TO STAY FOCUSED

Defining your priorities each quarter will allow everyone to unite on firm objectives and reduce the amount of distractions.  Developing goals isn’t always an easy process, but it’s one that when done correctly, can successfully create a laser focus throughout the organization.

Begin by aligning your firm around quarterly goals and create a“90 Day World”. The aim is to establish the top 3 to 7 firm priorities each quarter that meet the S.M.A.R.T. requirement.

 •          Specific

•           Measurable

•           Attainable

•           Realistic

•           Timely

At quarter end you can evaluate the results to see what worked and what didn’t work. Then use what you’ve learned to set new quarter goals. Do this consistently and I guarantee you’ll reach your milestones more quickly and with more impact.
